Trädkåtan, 2016

Trädkåtan is an outdoor artistic installation created for the newly built residential area of Lännbohöjden in Saltsjö-Boo. The work reflects on the idea of “home.” What defines a home, and what is needed for something to truly be called one? Its simple branch-like construction stands as a skeleton, a base or foundation for the new home and all the possibilities it holds.

Inspired by the natural surroundings of the site, the work has been given an organic expression intended to spark the imagination of both adults and children in the neighborhood—encouraging them to build upon it, allowing it to remain alive and ever-changing. The installation invites residents to use the site, the work, and the surrounding nature as a place for play and togetherness, while also serving as a reminder of the power we have to shape our own homes.
